UK pallet sizes explained
How the UK standard and Euro footprints differ, and how to choose the right size for your load and racking.
The two footprints you will meet most often in the UK are 1200 x 1000mm, usually called the UK standard pallet, and 1200 x 800mm, the Euro footprint. Both are widely handled by forklifts and pallet trucks, and both are stocked new, used and reconditioned.
Choose the footprint that matches the product you are shipping and the racking or vehicle bed it has to fit. Overhang is the most common cause of damage in transit, so measure the load rather than the pallet.
A 1200 x 800mm pallet is a Euro-size pallet. It is only an EPAL pallet when it carries a genuine licensed EPAL stamp, so ask what marking is present before ordering on the basis of the name alone.
