How we treat ISPM 15 claims
ISPM 15 is the international standard covering solid wood packaging used in export. Every ISPM 15 treated wooden pallet must carry the correct IPPC mark, and we confirm status only where that mark is genuine, legible and present on the pallets supplied for your order.
We never infer ISPM 15 from a footprint, from a pallet being new or used, from the timber alone, or from an EPAL marking. Those are separate things and conflating them is how consignments get turned back.
Not inferred from size
1200 x 1000 mm and 1200 x 800 mm pallets are footprints. Neither implies any treatment.
Not inferred from EPAL
A valid EPAL mark and an IPPC mark are different marks recording different things.

- What is ISPM 15?
- It is the international standard covering solid wood packaging used in export. Wood packaging in scope is treated and marked with an IPPC stamp so that receiving countries can verify it.
- How do I know a pallet is ISPM 15?
- By the mark. Every ISPM 15 treated wooden pallet must carry the correct IPPC mark. We confirm status only where that mark is genuine, legible and present on the pallets supplied, and we confirm it per order rather than in general.
- Does a Euro-size or EPAL pallet automatically meet ISPM 15?
- No. A 1200 x 800 mm pallet is Euro-size, and it is only EPAL when it carries the appropriate valid EPAL marking. Neither the footprint nor an EPAL mark says anything about ISPM 15 treatment, which is confirmed separately.
- Do used pallets qualify?
- Age and condition do not determine it. What matters is whether the pallets supplied carry a correct legible IPPC mark. We will tell you what we can confirm for the specific pallets being quoted.
- Which pallets fall outside ISPM 15?
- Presswood, plastic, paper and metal pallets are not solid wood, so ISPM 15 timber treatment does not apply to them. They are often the simplest option where a timber-free base is acceptable to your customer.
- Will an ISPM 15 pallet be accepted at my destination?
- Import requirements differ by country and change over time, so confirm the current rules for your destination with the relevant authority or your freight forwarder. Tell us the destination with your enquiry and we will confirm what we can supply against it.
- What details should I send with a quote request?
- Send the footprint in millimetres, the condition you want, the quantity, the delivery postcode and the date you need them on site. Tell us about racking, conveyors, automated handling, hygiene or export at the same time. Our sales team confirms the exact specification, availability, price and lead time before you commit.
